Astronomical observatory of the University of Warsaw
Is located in a historic building in the Botanical Garden of the Warsaw University at Ujazdów Avenue, built within 1820-1825 at the initiative of Francis Arminskyi. At the time of foundation, the observatory was one of the most contemporary ones in Europe, being an independent institution till 1873 and having become a part of the Warsaw University afterwards.
The observatory has two telescopes:
60 sm – in the North Warsaw Observatory in Ostrovica, near Otvok.
1,3 m – in the South Observatory in Las Campanas, Chile.
The basic projects include the surveys, conducted in the observatory:
OGLE – The Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment
ASAS – All-Sky Automated Survey.
