After a long winter in the Observatory on Mount Pip Ivan, active internal repair and external restoration work begins, which should be completed in the fall of this year.
On July 27, PIMReC project coordinator Ihor Tsependa, Rector of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian University, and Jan Malicki, Director of Eastern European Studium at the University of Warsaw, together with the Ukrainian part of the project’s infrastructure group and construction contractors inspected the site after the last snow came and also held a meeting in the Observatory building ahead of the official infrastructure group meeting scheduled for July 14-15.
Partners of the project "Adaptation of the former observatory on Mount Pip Ivan to the needs of the high-altitude rescue training center" (PIMReC), implemented with the financial support of the European Union under the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Poland - Belarus - Ukraine 2014 - 2020 apply a "modular" approach i.e. - gradual repair of the premises necessary for the implementation of the declared plans. It will be recalled that the concept proposed by the Precarpathian National University is to create a so-called transformer, which will combine a modern research center with a training base for search and rescue operations.
