On the basis of the International Scientific Center "Observatory" a scientific and educational center on ecological monitoring of transboundary influences will be created in the Carpathian National Nature Park. It was stated in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast State Administration during a meeting on the development of a nature reserve fund in the Carpathian region by Vasyl Poluiko, the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, who visited the International Research Center "Observatory" on August 22.
The main objective of the center will be to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the ecological situation in Central and Eastern Europe and to prevent the threat of environmental disasters. During the visit of the Deputy Minister the prospects of expanding the territories of natural parks within the framework of the project for the preservation of the Carpathian virgin forests have also been discussed. Much attention was paid to the issue of obtaining the real rights to land by the institutions of the natural reserve fund.
“In Europe nature conservation areas occupy a large part. Ukraine is only forming its natural reserve fund, therefore the issue of expanding territories, exploring the area which has an ecological and recreational value as well as is an important element for maintaining the ecological balance of Central and Eastern Europe”, - said Poluiko.
